Ruth Wilson has a background in immunology and microbiology, with a degree in Veterinary Science and a concentration in laboratory animal research, as well as a Master of Science in Data Science. Her professional experience spans laboratory operations, validation services, and scientific research within the life sciences industry.

Diagnosed with lupus at the age of 30, Ruth has transformed her personal journey into a mission to improve the lives of others living with the disease. She is an active patient advocate, educator and leader within the lupus community. Ruth serves on the Young Leaders Board of the Lupus Research Alliance, participates in the PALS (Patient Advocates for Lupus Studies) program, and contributes to multiple patient-driven research initiatives.

She is also a member of the LRA’s Patient Protocol Review Council, where she helps ensure the patient voice is represented in clinical study design, and has served as a Consumer Reviewer for the CDMRP Lupus Research Program, helping evaluate and allocate funding to promising research projects.

In addition, she is the moderator for the UMass Memorial Lupus Support Group, where she provides guidance, resources, and community support for individuals navigating their lupus journey. Ruth is passionate about bridging the gap between patients, researchers, and industry, and works to ensure the patient voice remains central to the development of new lupus therapies.
